Lore & Background

The mission Backseat Driver emerges from Aiden's investigation into the criminal underworld of Chicago, specifically the trafficking network run by the Ukrainian mob. After learning that a key trafficker, known only as 'The Fixer,' operates out of the Brandon Docks, Aiden decides to intervene. The mission highlights the moral complexity of Aiden's vigilante crusade, as he must choose between direct confrontation and stealthy sabotage to rescue victims and dismantle the operation.

In Their Own Story

Rain-slicked asphalt reflected the sickly glow of a flickering neon sign outside a derelict warehouse in Brandon Docks. Aiden crouched low behind a stack of salt-crusted shipping containers, his phone's screen casting a pale blue light on his jaw. Through the hacked security feed, he watched a man named Viktor—a trafficker with a taste for brutality and a gold tooth that caught the light—haggling with a nervous buyer over a terrified woman in a cage. 'You're done,' Aiden muttered, and with a tap, triggered an EMP that sent the guards' weapons clattering to the concrete. The mission was simple: eliminate Viktor, free the captives, and carve a message into the city's underbelly. But as Aiden crept through the shadows, he spotted the C4 wires snaking along the support beams—the traffickers had rigged the whole building to collapse. The chase that followed was a blur of screeching tires, shattered glass, and muzzle flashes, ending with Viktor's sedan plunging into the black water of the Chicago River. Aiden watched the bubbles rise, knowing this was just one head of a many-headed hydra.

Reader's Guide

**Objective: Infiltrate the Brandon Docks** Aiden must navigate the docks using stealth and hacking to avoid detection. Key characters include the trafficker Viktor and his guards. This section connects to the larger ctOS/DedSec arc by showcasing how Aiden uses the city's digital infrastructure to track and neutralize threats. **Objective: Eliminate the Target** After locating Viktor, Aiden must choose between a direct assault or a stealthy takedown. The mission introduces a vehicular chase sequence. This segment reinforces Aiden's personal vendetta against organized crime and his willingness to operate outside the law. **Objective: Escape the Docks** Following the elimination, Aiden must escape the alerted guards. The mission ends with a cutscene where Aiden reflects on the cost of his actions. This mission is part of the base game, not DLC, and is essential for unlocking later campaign events related to the human trafficking subplot.
